EIGHTH BIENNIAL SESSION.

Hastings, Thursday. The eighth biennial session of the Protestant Alliance Friendly Society of Australasia was held yesterday. Delegates were present from Thames, Auckland, Napier. Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin, Oamaru. W.G.M, Bro., Stevens (Auckland) presided. The trustees reported that £8679 was invested (an increase of £495 on the previous year), and 'the interest earned was £643. Levies to the funeral fund and incidental fund were fixed at 6s and 6s per annum, respectively. A proposal to [ abolish death, duties was rejected. : The election of officers resulted as follows:—Grand master, Bra Stevens (Auckland); " deputy, Bro.. Arnold , (Dunedin); secretary, Bro. Burns (Auckland!; treasurer, Bro. McKinstrv (Wellington); trustees,* Bros. Hayhow, May, and Maxwell; chaplain, Bov. Morton (Hastings). The grand master appointed Bro. Arnold his representative in the South Island.. It was resolved that a scheme of clearance values between New Zealand : and Australian States should be brought into operation; that support be given to the system of - State subvention for sick funds that the executive formulate a scheme of consolidation ; on the ■ lines' adopted by Queensland.
