CONTINUATION SCHOOLS.
Sir, —I am glad to see that the continuation" or training schools have a chance to Income part of our national programme. For cities or towns, no doubt the primary model of pupils or students attending a school of stationary masters will suit; but for tho country such a plan would be too expensive, nor is it reoessary. Rather have travelling instructors visiting each district, say, once a month, at fixed times, i»ing schools or halls as occasion may suit. The child cf 15 or over does not need the daily " grind," mostly memorising. What he needs is a little directing and use of his own brains. This and his experiences at his daily avocation, which should as. often as possible be agriculture, should enable him to become proficient, as far as such a changing science as agriculture will allow, for practical purposes, Sam.
