ODDFELLOWS' ANNUAL OUTING.

SPORTS AT THE DOMAIN.

Fob the first time since its inception pi years ago, the Oddfellows' Premier Piaiie. one of the biggest annual mictions ofS kind an the Dominion, which took place or Saturday, was held on the DomainCridS (jrround For rv c-t ± xot yea,* post, tho custom habeen for the members of the Auckland district Order and their friends to caZ: gate for their annual outing a-, MctutanV but as it _ has been found that members Jivmg outside Auckland, who form a rerv large part of the membership, prefer / come right to the citv, it was decided to try the experiment this year of holdmthe picnic m the Domain. The result that in spite of very unseasonable and unpleasant weather, the gathering viaa great success, and the attendance mast bare been between 4000 and 5000. Representatives from oil parts of fu a province, from Hokianga to GisW were present, and a large number ofS officials attended, including the master of the district, Bro. H. A ° Wh; taker, of Hamilton, and the deputy 'errand" master, Bro. W. Dean. AjU&gX absence were received from the Prim* Minister (the Hon. W. F. m2v)T ocoupies the position of patron, the' Hon W. H. Hemes, the Hon. R. H. Rhodpa and the Hon. F. M. B. Fisher, all 0 whom wished, the Order a successful gather rag. A telegram from the Ashburtcn district ran:—''•"Warmest wishes for success to-morrow. Heartily congratulate you on your successful efforts to promote the welfarei of the Order in the foremast district in Now Zealand."

The morning was devoted to spurts, games, and scrambles for the childiC and the little ones gave every indication that they were enjoying themselves to the •utmost. In the afternoon a really good programme of sports and dancing was carried out. Music was provided by tha Garrison Band, while Kited Highlanders ■were much in evidence with their bagpipes. Altogether the picnic was a highlv successful one, and notwithstanding f&a frequent showers of rain, those present all obtained' much enjoyment from the outing. The Sports Programme.
