FALL DOWN STEAMER'S HOLD.
MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED.
A man, whose name is believed to bo Riley, met with very serious injuries through falling down the hold of the steamer Rakanoa,' at No. 4 Jetty yesterday afternoon. ■ ' • At about half-past three the man, who is a casual labourer, came up from one hold with the intention of going down another. By some means he slipped and fell headlong to the bottom of the hold. He was brought to the deck, and two comrades conveyed him to the hospital, where it was seen that he had sustained very serious injuries to his head. The injured man is about 30 years' of age. Late last night his condition was reported to be very serious.
