WHALING SHIPS IN PORT.
AN UNPROFITABLE VENTURE.
[HT TELEGRAPH.—-TRUSS association.] Dunedin, Sunday. The steam whaler Hobart, with the barque Mimosa in tow, arrived at Port Chalmers yesterday, whence the vessels have been whaling for several months past. The presence of the vessels in port means the abandonment of the southern whaling grounds, which have proved an unprofitable venture. After docking, the Mimosa will return to Norway, and the Hobart will probably sail to-morrow for the same destination.
