NEW TECHNICAL SCHOOLS.
IN NORTH AUCKLAND.
Xxrpi establishment..of technical education and manual training, centre,'? at Maungaturojto, Paparoa, and Waibu,. is contemby the Auckland. Education Board, and sites for the necessary buildings, at each place have now been selected. With a. view to determining this matter, tlio chairman of the' Board (Mr. G. J. Garland), Mr-.- J. D. McKenzie (a member of tho Board), the director of toechnical education (Mr. George George), and the Board's architect (Mr. J.- Farrell], spent,the latter part of last week.in visiting the districts. On their return on Saturday evening Mr. Garland stated that the trip had been quite satisfactory.-, ~ < •„.-,•- <■ : At Paparoa a site -had .already been chosen. and the selection of the actual spot upon which the building will bo erected was made.. •
Arrangements were made at, Maijingaturoto for an exchange 'of the- present school ground of ... about. three-acres for another section nearer the now railway station and nearor the centre, of the district. The primary school is to be removed to the new- location,- and" a manual and technical training centre also established upon it. Five acres had. already been acquired at Waipu, and the representatives of the Board' agreed ; with ■ the committee, -upon a site for a technical school no®- the* post office. ... --~''
