"Pilot," of tho Sydney Referee, says: — "As I have often remarked, very little in the way of ' doping ' goes on in Australia. Some of these owners and trainers who would liko to give it a trial cannot get hold of tho proper recipe to -make their horses go faster, while others who did not give the 'right thing' a trial came to the conclusion there was so little in it that it did not justify tho risk attached to its use. In France, however, whoro the American element is now much in evidonco, ' doping' is so general as to draw from a Paris writer the following comment:' Developments are likely to be very rapid, as the stewards are determined to put this doping down. As I said in a previous article, nearly all the trainers use a dope, from the highest to the lowest, and it will 'be the unfortunates who are caught first who will be made the scapegoats.' Since the above was written Professor Kaufmann has got to work on * doped' horses at Paris meetings, and more than one prominent trainer » in fear of trouble to come."
