HIGHER PAY IN THE NAVY.

In reference to the increase in the pay of bluejackets Mr. Winston Churchill (First Lord of the Admiralty) says that an immediate increase in pay is provided after six years' service for able-bodied seamen, first-class stokers, and privates of the marines at the rate of 3d a day.
Petty-officers and non-commis-sioned marines will receive an increase of 4d a day, and for each good conduct badge the men will receive an additional Id a day increase.
Corresponding increases are provided for the higher ranks. The total cost involved by the increases is £386,473 per year. (Received December 6, 1.5 sum.) London, December 5.
Under the naval pay increases lieutenants will receive an increase of Is 2d a day. Commander's half-pay will be increased by Is a day, and captain's half-pay by 3s 6d. The sea-going command money for commanders has been increased from 3s 9d to ss. All ratings will receive free kits on joining the service.
