DIVER SEARCHING FOR THE BODY. ■•■ Although every effort has been made to recover the body of Mr. L. Neale, the unfortunate victim of the drowning fatality ; at Mateatea Bay on Sunday morning last, v no trace of it has yet been found. :; On Tuesday last" Mr. Pledger, who was a. close friend of the deceased, received a > cable .from Mrs. Neale, the young man's ji: mother, who resides in Melbourne, direct- ■-: ing him to spare no efforts to recover the iiv body. The message also stated that Sirs. >! Neale and her daughter would arrive here > on Sunday. .. Jir. Pledger again went out to the scene .«yesterday morning, this time taking with • him a diver, while a constable also accom- . panied the party. Another thorough search wis made, though still without result. Mr. Pledger has taken provisions for two or - three days, and will remain in th© vicinity to continue the search.
.' It is stated that the place is a particularly bad one for dragging operations, as the bottom is very rocky, and abounds with seaweed, which hampers any attempts at dragging.
