At the last meeting of the 'r Thames , Borough Council a deputation was received from the residents of Parawai and Block - XXVII. with respect to the electric lighting of those districts. The deputation stated that although their districts were . outside the borough and within the boundary of the Thames County, the residents were desirous of participating in the electric lighting ' proposal of the Borough ' Council. As the application previously made by the Borough Council to the County for permission to carry the service mains into Parawai and Block XXVII. had been withdrawn, the deputation asked that the Conned would renew the application, so that the work of installing the mains could be proceeded with in their portion of the district at the same time as in the borough. Art extraordinary meeting of the Borough Council was held on Saturday night to re- I consider the loan proposals. After considerable discussion it was decided to meet again on Wednesday evening, with a view to formulating a scheme for meeting the wishes of the ratepayers, as expressed at the public meeting held on Wednesday evening last. It is considered probable an amended prooosal to borrow £10,000 will be submitted to the ratepayers. . TE AWAMUTU. ROAD BOARD MEETING.
