NEW GUINEA CANNIBALS.

[FROM OCR, OWN COREE9POXTOENT.] Sybxet, October 30. During the last 12 months three white men: have been killed and eaten in German New Guinea. Tho latest to. suffer that fate is a bird collector named Petersen. News of the murder was brought to Sydney yesterday by the German mail steamer Prinz Waldemar. Particulars supplied chow that Petersen had spent some litilo time in New Guinea in search of rare bird specimens. He left t),» wast for the bush some weeks ago, with some native attendants, but never returned. His non-appearance aroused suspicion, ' and native police were sent in search. ' Word came back to the coast several days later that the bird-hunter had penetrated some ,25 miles into tho bush, and was caught by savages.
