NEW ZEALANDERS AT HOME.

[FROM OTTO OWN CORRESPONDENT.] London, August 23. Mrs. Deveson (Northcote, Auckland} will leave for the Continent in September. She has not yet made any plans for going back to New Zealand. The Order of the Crown has been conferred upon Mr. H. Lewis llaynian, honoiary Consul for Belgium, by His Majesty tile King of tho Belgians. Mr. Hay man is a member of the well-known, linn of r*cw Zealand and London merchants. There are at least three New Zealand ladies who now belong to the Military Nursing Service. One is Miss Fairchild (Wellington), who;, after being stationed for some considerable time in South Africa, is now attached to the Royal Herbert Hospital at Woolwich: Miss James, daughter of Dr. James (Wellington), who has just joined the service, ana Miss Whyte, niece of tho Hon. J. B. Why to. Four New Zealanders who left the Dominion 18 months ago under a gold-dredg-ing engagement with an English firm, have come to London at tho termination of their contract. Thev are: Mr. W. J. Eraser (Waimate), Mr." D. Gibson (Otago Central), Mr. Gordon Good (Milton), and Mr. J. McPherson (Romahapa). What their future movements will be is not yet settled; at present they aro having a holiday, and seem glad to bo back amid civilisation, after having been for so long in tho heart of Peru, many days' distant from any town.

To-day tho P. and O. Morea has sailed from London, and her passengers include somo who are going to New Zealand. These are: Mr.,M. M. lrvings, who has booked to Auckland; Mr. T. Pringle and Mr. P. Watt, who are going to Wellington; Messrs. E. and T. Lavcock and Mr. and Mrs. "J. A. Sutton, who will travel to Lvttelton; Mr. John King, who goes to kelson; Mr. H. Chambers, to Napier; Mr. and Mrs. F. B. Clark have booked to tho Bluff, while Mr. and Mrs.-Joseph Wilson are bound for Dunedin.

During yesterday and to-day the following new names have been added to tho list of callers at the High Commissioner's office:—Mrs. A. E. Deveson (Auckland), Miss G. Gribbin (Auckland), Mr. Herbert J. Brownlee (Gisborne), Mrs. Annie Bramwell (Auckland), Dr. Winifred Bathgate (Dunedin), Mr. N. G. Paterson (Dunedin), Mr. T. Col© (Dunedin), Mies E. Wilson (Mount Eden), and Mr. James T. Wilson (who are leaving for the Continent on September 20, and will join the s.s. Osterley at Naples on October 19): Mr. F. W. Thompson (Christchurch), Mrs. J. W. Sal'mond (Wellington), and Mr. W. G. Salmond.
