MONEY FOR CHINA.
A TEN MILLION LOAN.
FIVE PER CENT. FOR 40 YEARS. | By- Telegraph. Association.— (Received September 11. 11.15 p.m.) London, September 11. As the result of negotiations which were commenced in the middle of July an agreement was signed on August 30 for a Chinese loan of £10,000,000 at five per cent. 'The loan is to have a currency of 40 years, and is secured on unpledged securities, chiefly the .tax on salt. The loan is free of the supervision that the six-Power syndicate proposed. THE INDIAN FRONTIER.
EXPEDITION OF INQUIRY., - (Received September 11, 10.10 p.m.) Calcutta, September 10. An expedition is being despatched ostensibly for road making to the Mishmi Hills,, on the frontier of Assam, in North-eastern India. It^ is believed that it is intended to discover the extent of Chinese influence in that direction.
