KING'S VETERAN GUARDS.
THE PAST EAR'S WORK.
The annual meeting of the King's Veteran Guards was held last night. There was a email muster of members. In the absence of Captain Colnon, Senior-Lieu-tenant Jeffries occupied the chair.
The annual report stated that there had been a slight increase in the number of the corps. That this increase had not been greater was probably due to tho cost of uniforms and the wajit of arms* and accoutrements. Steps had been taken to induce tho Defence Department to forward a supply of arms, but as yet without result. Several benefit entertainments had been tendered the corps during the year, resulting in considerable financial benefit. Financially the balance-sheet showed the corps to be in a. sound position. For the ensuing year the chief objects to bo aimed at by the corps ore. tho enrolment of new members, and the obtaining of a supply of arms and accoutrements.
Copies of tlh? rules and regulations, which have been printed, were _ distributed to members.
It was decided that a committee should be set up to meet a* week hence, to arrange a social, the funds "from which should be added to tho benefit of the corps.
