EMPIRE'S WIRELESS CHAIN

It is ..nnouneed that the South African Government, will share in the cost of the Empire's chain of wireless stations. It will establish a high-powered duplex station at Pretoria at a cost of £80,000. This will ultimately place the Administration in constant communication with Great Britain and Australia.
The Marconi Company has entered into a contract with the Imperial Government to erect all the stations required for the Empire's wireless scheme. Six stations were decided upon some months ago, viz., England, Egypt, Aden, Bangalore, Pretoria, and Singapore. These should be completed and working next year. All will be high-powered stations, working day and night, each having a radius of 2000 miles. Each station will cost £60,000 exclusive of foundations or buildings. All the Imperial stations will be of a duplex character, able to receive and transmit at the same time, and fitted with automatic transmitting and receiving apparatus.
