GISBORNE MUNICIPALITY.

LOAN PROPOSALS CARRIED. [BT TELEGRAPH.—press ASSOCIATION.] Gisborne, Thursday. The polls of the Gisborne ratepayers, taken to-day in regard to the passing of additional loans for municipal purposes, were in favour of the proposals. ' The voting was as follows :— y Road loan of £15,750: For. 423; against, 331. Electric light loan of £15,000: For, 420; against, 329. There came to hand to-day from New York a consignment of 79 packages containing tho two storage battery cars, ordered by the Borough Council for the installation of the tramway "'system' in Gisborne.

A record year is anticipated regarding building progress in Gisborne. For the past seven months building permits to the value of £56.946 have been issued, an increase of £13,000 on the corresponding period of last year, and several extensive structures are yet to come into the year's returns. * .
