THE BRITISH CABINET

RUMOURS OF DISSENSIONS.

"UNITED FACE FOR THE

PRESENT."

LLOYD-GEORGE'S LAND POLICY

By Telegraph.—Press Association.—Copyright.

\(Received July 26, 10.53 p.m.) London, July 26. The Unionist papers reiterate that there are. serious differences between Mr. Lloyd-George and his colleagues, although the Cabinet has agreed for the present to maintain a united face.

The Pall Mall Gazette says that the Cabinet is considering how much of Mr. Lloyd-George's land policy can safely be adopted.

In a speech at Crewe, Mr. A. Ure (Lord Advocate for Scotland) said that no member of the Government or any practical Liberal was a single taxer.

A committee of inquiry, he said, was investigating a proposal to tax land in order to relieve the local rates and to remit the taxes on tea and sugar.
