"THE FATAL ROOM."
NEW SERIAL STORY.
Ix our literary supplement of to-day's issue appears the first instalment of a new; serial story, " The Fatal Room." It is by James McElderry, author of '.' The Veil of Circumstances," etc., whoso work, although new to New Zealand readers, has been warmly praised in England. " The Fatal Room" is a detective story on quite unconventional lines, and its narrative of love and mystery will claim a high place in popular favour. The author has set out with a very definite determination to give something entirely new and original in this class of story and the abundance of clues he follows up, not only with real skill, but with very genuine interest to the reader, invests the serial with particular interest. The murder of Dolores Fernandez, a, brilliant writer whose identity has hitherto been unknown, reveals the fact that she is Margaret Denmark, wife of Mark Denmark, the millionaire. The startling point about the crime is that it occurs in some extraordinary manner in the same room that her daughter Carlotta died exactly a year before and in. which. a man named Welder met his death two years before. There are many exciting ex-1 periences and dramatic situations in the story and it should be read with the keenest interest by all lovers of a bright and vigorous tale.
