THE PISTYAN INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT.

The Yorkshire Weekly Post says :— The International Chess Tournament at Pistyan has ended as waß expected in a decisive victory for RubinStein, who has played a strong game throughout, and before the final round was reached had established his premiership beyond challenge. The position of the other, leaders ia the tournament had also tiecomo fairly clear, and the closing stages of the contest were for that reason robbed of some Interest, players who had secured them selves against defeat being content to play for the draw when, under other circumstances, they would hare risked something to secure a win. Rubinstein wins the ilrst prize in the tournament with 14 points; Spielmanu is second with Hi; a "d Marshall third with 10A. For the fourth, fifth, • and sixth prizes there is a tie bet-ween Puras, Sehlcchter, and Teichipann, who have each scored 10 points. Yates, who was the only BririUi representative in the tourney, although not placed in the honours list, has done fairly well. He has six points to his credit, the game with Lowtzky, which he was previously reported to have lost, having been won by him." From the same source we learn that the remaining scores were :— Balla and Breyer ... ... 91 Alapin, Sulwe, and Sterk ... .
