TOUR' OF AUSTRALASIA

.' The Vancouver cadet- corps, which is to *. .'Australia and New Zealand, will arrive in Auckland by the Zeolandia on if' Tuesday, en route to Sydney. Mr. Bed- **\ doe, the Canadian Trade Commissioner, .will welcome the cadets on arrival, and as Xt- the boys will have a few hours to spare, , he hopes! in an unofficial way. to arrange something in the way of a motor run or entertainment. Mr. Beddoe stated to a Herald representative yesterday that he would be pleased if some of the motor -. car owners in the city would co-operate ■with him in this vent thus ensuring the boys having a pleasant first impression of Auckland. Auckland's official welcome will be given to the boys when they return to New Zealand via the Bluff. From that point they will open out on a tour of the Dominion, finishing up in Auckland. Captain E. R. McTaggart, the advance agent, is at present in Australia completing the detoils of the Australian trip, after which he comes to New Zealand to make similar arrangements here.

The corps is comprised of 75 boys, with a bugle and fife and drum band. Concerts and military displays will be given in each of the centres. Like the Australian cadets on their recent tour through Great Britain, they will be billeted out in tho houses of the hospitable and representative citizens of each particular town, and in this way gain at first hand a knowledge of the local customs.

Captain R. N. Davy, of the Vancouver High School, is responsible for the organisation of the visit.

In their editorial references to the. tour the Vancouver newspapers speak of tho Imperial importance of the visit, which it is hoped will do something towards bringing Canada and the Commonwealth and New Zealand into closer relations. All the papers urge the cadets to fittingly represent the great Dominion during their stay in Australia.
