Masterton, Thursday. Tub Buchanan Home for Incurables, donated by Mr. W. 0. Buchanan, M.P., was opened this afternoon at Greytown. Tho Hohs. R. Heaten Rhodes, F. M. B. Fisher, and Dr. Pomare, accompanied by . Dr. Valintano,. the" Inspector-General of Hos- '• pitals, -were present, and also representatives of the local bodies in the Wairarapa; The official opening was performed by Mri : Rhodes, who was presented with a silver key, with the Minister's monogram thereon, and inscribed on the reverse side : "Presented to Hon. R. Heaton Rhodes, Minister for Hospitals, on opening the Buchanan Home. Groymouth, July 25, 1912." The Minister, in performing the ceremony, referred to Mr. Buchanan's many sterling qualities, and tho humane spirit which prompted this splendid gift to the people of Wairarapa. Mr. Buchanan tu then presented with a portrait of'himself in oils. A testimonial was also presented -with, the picture, which was subscribed for all over Wairarapa. The presentations wero mado by Mr. Feist, Mayor of Carterton. The- Ministers left by the „U#nioon train lor Wellington.
