MOTOR REGULATIONS.
QUESTION OF REGISTRATION.
The Municipal Conference, which opens in Wellington on Monday next, will deal with several matters of interest to motorists, particularly regarding the registration regulations.
The Napier delegates to the conference will suggest that in future every motor shall bo registered with the registering authority of the district in which the owner of the motor either lives or has his.place of business, and such registration shall have effect throughout New Zealand.
A Palmerston North remit suggests, " that in order to prevent confusion, The Motor Regulations Act of 1908 bo amended so as' to provide that each registering body shall be compelled to use the initials comprising the name of the registering body as an identification mark for motors, together with a number commencing at number 1."
Another Palmerston North recommendation is that all drivers of motor cars in cities or boroughs shall bo over 16 years of age, and must be in possession of a certificate of proficiency as a driver.
The dangers of motors travelling at excessive speed form the subjects of remits from Christchurch. Invercargill, Greytown, Auckland, and Palmerston North, asking that the Government frame regulations dealing with the speed of all motor vehicles.
