WAITANGI. The supervisor of the Waitangi mine, Tararu, states that work has been going on iu the crosscut, which has been driven a total of 116 ft from the main drive. The country is nob of a favourable description, being hard aud dark. Tho main drive has been advanced a total of 89ft from the crosscut. A break has been cut through in the main drive about 10ft from the face; this break is running almost parallel with tho sft reef showing in the crosscut, and would bo about 10ft from the footwall. The break und tho reef aro dipping opposite to each other, and would junction in a very short distance" in rising. WATCHMAN. In the Watchman mine, Thames, No. 1 rise lias been advanced 73ft. At this point tho reef is about 3ft wide, and although the country shows no change gold is not seen so freely. ' Thero is no change to report in No. 2 rise, which is 34ft from tho starting-point. Prospects are somewhat better in the parallel* reef, and at the south-east crosscut tho face is hard with water making freely, which may indicate a change. The face at tho north-west crosscut is in 70ft. COROMANDEL WARDEN'S COURT. [BT TELKCHAPJC. —OWN CORRESrONDfcN'f.j Co Roman Tuesday. Tho monthly sitting of the Warden's Court was hold to-day before Mr. F. J. Burgess (warden), when the following applications were granted:—Hunt and others, permission to work the Gallant claim with two men for three months; Stimpson and others, two months' protection for X.L. No. 2 special claim; Kapanga Goldmining Co., six months' protection for Kaponga special claim; Pride of' Tokatea Goldmining Co., six months' protection for Prido of Tokatea special claim; executors of tho late James Langford, six months' protection for Golden Bay seabcach claim. NOTES. In tho Dominion mine, Karangahake, the cast low level has been extended 652 ft, with no change in the country, except that a good deal of water is still flowing from tho face. The manager of J.he Waihi Standard, Waihi, reports that at No. 4 level, fair progress has been made on the reef, which has widened out, with favourable indications for high values. At tho south face the formation is still good, and is likely to develop into a more solid body of quartz.

In the Silver Stream mine, Maratoto, the total distance driven is 175 ft. The country is difficult to break, and progress' for the time being is necessarily slow. Sulphides ai'e showing occasionally among the quartz seams. The manager of the Golden Cross, Waitekauri, reports that good payable ore still comes to hand from the outcrop of tho Golden Cross reef, and the rise on the leader, which has pinched somewhat, has been advanced 20ft. Gold is occasionally seen in the stono. Since last report good progress has been made with the drive in the Kuranui- mine, Thames, the distance from the startingpoint being 307 ft. A start has been made to intersect the various known reefs. The surrounding country is firm. The manager of tho Kirikiri Consolidated mines, states that the distance now driven from the rise is 69ft. The reef is a solid body of ore 2ft wide, and gold can be seen in the footwall portion. The manager reports that in the Rising Sun mine, Karangahake, the low level tunnel has been extended a total distance of 1893 ft. The country in the present face continues to be of a favourable description. In the Zeehan Consolidated mine operations aro at present confined to the low level. The face is in 40ft from the main crosscut, the reef showing quartz the full width of the drive. The drive is now bearing towards the hangingwall, and the quart;/ shows a marked improvement, being highly mineralised.
