HOME MISSION STATIONS.

The annual conference of the Methodist Church in New Zealand was continued in the Pitt-street Methodist Church yesterday. The President (Rev. W. Ready) presided.

A resolution was passed expressing regret at the death, at Addington (Christchurch), of Mr. William Brown, who was on several occasions a member of tho Conference, and it was decided to forward to the relatives a telegram of condolence. A similar resolution was carried in respect of tho death, on Sunday, of Mr. William Singer, the oldest local. preacher in the Auckland district. The Rev. G. Bond said Mr. Singer, who came to New Zealand as a Methodist schoolmaster, was a man of magnificent record.

Intimation was made that Mrs. Serpell, wife of the Rev. S. J. Serpell (Masterton) was dangerously ill. The Conference passed a resolution of sympathy with Mr. Serpell, and granted him-leave from the remainder of the Conference, to enable him to return to his home. It was resolved that home mission stations should be constituted at Runanga (Nelson district), and at Mayfield (Canterbury. • The Conference decided that a probationer be appointed to the Hamilton circuit to reside at Frankton, and a probationer appointed to Huntly. It decided '.bat a home missionary should be appointed to reside at Gonville (Wanganui), an additional, agent to Wellington South circuit, - and one to the -Gtsborne circuit, and a probationer to" the Christchurch (Durham-street) circuit, to reside at New Brighton. A committee was appointed to consider certain matters in relation to the Wellington Educational Trust, and to report to the Conference as early as possible. It was resolved that the next annual Conference be held in Wellington. A proposal that the Conference i. be v.held in Christchurch'was "defeated by a consider-; able majority. ' The Conference adjourned at 4.30 p.m. until 10 o'clock this morning.
