LICENSING COMMITTEES.

LATE NOMINATIONS. COULD NOT BE TAKEN. I —. — [BY TELEGRAPH. OTOf CORRESPONDENT.] Pajekoa, Monday. Nominations for the Ohinemuri Licensing Committee for the ensuing three years were to close at noon on Saturday last with the returning officer (Mr. J. Nathan), Paeroa. Shortly before 12 o'clock five persons attended Mr. Nathan's office for the purpose of receiving and filling in the necessary nomination papers. The nomination forms not being available, those interested commenced writing .them out in the form prescribed by the Act, but the hour of noon arrived before the papers were completed. The returning officer then declared that it was past the time for receiving nominations, and declined to take them. He, however, took tho names of the five candidates desirous of being nominated, and it is probable that they will be appointed a licensing committee by tho Governor in Council. t .- ■■ i » - MARSDEN NOMINATIONS. Chadwin, Norman Finlayson, Fredrick Foote, Lionel Hanlon, Charles Haw/ken, John Hawkes, 31. A. Angus McKay, Alexander Trotter, and Edmund Weaver.

BAY OF PLENTY. [BY TELEGRAM.— CORRESPONDENT.] Opotiki, Monday. The following candidates have been nominated for the Bay of Plenty Licensing Committee'.--Jonathan Brown, F. J. Burt, P. A. Crawford, John Dillicar, Geo. A. Hall, Otto Hansen, Edward H. Henderson, H. R. Hogg, R. F. Jackson, David C. Martin, Alex. Peebles, Robert Thompson", jun. The number of vacancies is five, and the election will take place on March 12. NO ELECTION IN .WAITEMATA. The nominations for the Waitemata Licensing Committee closed on Saturday with Mr. Hay (district returning officer). Messrs. A. Alison, R. H. Duder, J. Edson, J. C. Macky, and R. S. Reynolds were nominated, and as the applicants do not number more than the vacancies (five), they have been declared elected a* the new committee.
