ATTACKED BY RUST. ; ' A number of specimens of Califoraial . thistle attacked with rust have beep re- : ceived by the fields and experimental divi< ~ sion of the Department of Agriculture, The biologist, Mr. A. ft Cockayne, reports the trouble to be the thistle, rust (Puccinia ■ hieracei). Ho says; "This disease appears to be spreading considerably m van- , oua localities, and experiments have-been: undertaken .to ascertain its value as *l thistle controller. So far it appears fcj attack only isolated plants, and rarely * appears to kill them entirely out.
