PALMYRA ISLAND CLAIM.
By Telegraph.— Association.—Copyright. London, March 1. The New York correspondent of the Morning Post suggests that Hawaii annexed Palmyra Island (on which the American flag has been hoisted) in 1862, invalidating Britain's annexation in 1889.
The possession of Palmyra Island has been the subject of dispute lately between Britain and America. It was reported last week that the American cruiser West Virginia, acting under the orders of the Navy Department, had hoisted the Stars and Stripes on the island.
