PALMYRA ISLAND CLAIMS.

The Washington correspondent of the Morning Post reports that the State Department says that the United States asserts sovereignty over Palmyra Island as being part of the. Hawaiian group. Owing to rumours of an adverse claim being made, a United States cruiser visited -Palmyra and found no evidence of such a claim. The United States Government does not intend to relinquish its sovereignty.
