TWO BATTLESHIP PROGRAMME By Telegraph.—rre*» Association.—Copyright. Washington, February 27. Testifying before the Naval Affairs Committee, Mr. Geo. von L. Meyer (Secretary to the Navy) declared that •if the United States did not build two battleships yearly, Japan by 1916 would have wrested from her the position of third naval Power. Mr. Meyer demanded a million dollars for the creation of wirele&s stations to keep the American warships in touch with Washington, similar to the plan followed by the British Admiralty.
