INCREASED ARMY BILL.
EXPENDITURE ON AVIATION. NO AUTOMATIC RIFLE YET. Br Tfk^riph.—Press Association. —Copyright. (Received February 28, 9 15 p.m.) London, February 28. In the House of Commons the Army Estimates were introduced. They total £27,860,000, an increase of £170,000 on last year's Army Estimates. This increase is entirely due to the growth of aviation, on which Britain is spending £308,000, while France, is spending £1,280,000. The War Office intends to establish a joint army and navy aviation school at Salisbury Plains. The whole of the expeditionary force will shortly be equipped with pointed bullet ammunition and with resighter rifles. No satisfactory automatic.rifle has been produced, therefore the War Office is testing a new pattern magazine rifle.
