Regahdikg the overdue steamer -Hinutongi, shipmasters who have been in; the Chatham Islands trade recall quit* a number of long round trips made fey various steamers. The Toroa was once away for a whole month, and th- Kami, also owned by Messrs. Richardson and Co., of Napier, made a longer stay at the Chatham*, bad weather keeping her away from Lyttelton for over a month. Both vessels came through severe storms without accident, 'lho Ripple was once 20 days away. f , Tho Himitangi is regarded as a fine sea boat, well equipped, and in charge of competent officers. Mr. H. 0. Foster,, a son of Mr. W. G. Foster, of Wellington, who » left Lyttelton in tho Himitangi, tf Ml officer in tho service of the P. and 0. Company, on leave of absence, and is making ths round trip in the vesseL Mr. John McLean, of Wellington, who is also away in the Himitangi, was born in Wellington, and has made quite a number of trips to the Chathams, the first one being in the Duco, f
