Many delightful phases of New Zealand life are vividly and pleasingly portrayed in this fascinating number, and many a picturesque scene adorns its pages. There is, moreover, a joyousness and beauty in the incidents illustrated and a suggestiveness and sweetness and sublimity in the sea and landscape pictures that are haunting in their effect.. We cannot imagine any production better calculated to impress all who turn over its leavea with ■the"-spell of New Zealand, its alluring characteristics, and its manifold attractions. It is enough to say that from the first page of its cover, which bears a finely coloured .illustration of the New Zealand fan, it is replete with pictorial gems, each in its degree a work of art. Maori life, angling, yachting, mountaineering, pastoral pursuits, the kauri gum and timber industries, New Zealand's happy child life, summer scenes and summer seas, and much besides are all represented in delightful profusion. In addition, two handsome coloured plates are presented with number, both dealing New Zea•.and subjects. One is entitled Searching For His Section," and tells a typical 'itory of pioneer settlement. There is an introduction dealing with the progress of the Dominion, and several short stories of absorbing interact by well-known writers.
