Sir, —Tho following extract from Carlyle's "French Revolution" may possess some interest for the electors of Parnell:—"Eloquent Attorney-General! He blows out from him, better or worse, what crude or ripe thins he holds; not without result to .himself, for it leads to a bishopric (in the New Zealand case knighthood). . . . He approves himself a glib-tongued, stronglunged, whole-hearted human individual: much flowing matter there is, and really of the better sort, about Right, Nature, Benevolence, _ Progress, which flowing matter, whether it is pan-thcistic, or is pot-theistic, only the greener mind, in these days, need examine." X.
