TE AWAMUTU CLUB. [FROM OUR j OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Te Awamttttt, Wednesday. The annual meeting 1: of ■Te Awamutu Rudge Cycling Club was held on' Monday evening, Mr. J. H. Ansell presiding. The annual report stated that five road races were run during the season, the distances ranging from 10 to 25 miles. The entries | for all events were very good, 10 or over starting in each event. The balance-sheet showed a credit of £6 7s 9d. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: Patron, Mr. W. Von Sturmer; president, Mr. E. Miller, vice-presidents, Dr. Reekie, Messrs. G. Spinley, Win. Taylor, M. Laurie, and R G. managing: committee, Messrs. C. Davis, R. Clark, J. Ansell, A. Robinson, T. Davis, and N. Middlebrooke; club captain, Mr. G. Galloway ; secretary, Mr. L. North; treasurer, Mr. S. H. Deven; auditor, Mr. 1 Ansell. Mr. Hutohinson presented a silver cup and Mr. Ansell a trophy to bo competed for this season. The date of the first race was left for the committee to fix.
i.. The annual test race between Launceston and Hobart, over a distance of 120 miles, held on September 30, was won by J. C. Keenan, , of. Hobart, with . 12m. . handicap. Tho race was conducted by the Dunlop ; Rubber Co.! to decide which" rider shall represent Tasmania in the big event from Warrnambool to Melbourne (165 miles). Keenan, by registering fastest time,; has qualified for tliat honour, and . will compete in the Victorian event on October 14. In addition to winning first prize, Keenan also secured the road championship of Tasmania. The second place was filled by A. Kean (12m.), while H. Millingion (14m.) and M. Bowley (24m.) tied for third place. The 'conditions were good for racing, and only a few accidents were recorded. Thirty-three of the 45 entrants competed, and the three first-mentioned riders used Dunlop tires. The South Australian Dunlop road test, over the usual course from Burrs to North Adelaide, was held on September 30, and was won by W. E. Grigs? from scratch, who cut out the 100 miles in the fast time of sh. 39m., which is a record for the race. The win was a nopular one, Grigg being a hot favourite. He will officially, represent South Australia in the Dunlop road race from Warrnambool to Melbourne. In addition to winning the first prize, : Grigg secures a' £5 5s gold ' watch presented by Mr. G. Bullock, of Adelaide, and the road championship and blue ribbon of South Australia. S. J. Tobin was second, and L. Gilbert third. All three placed men used 'Diynlop tyres. The test races in Tasmania and South Australia conclude the series. A3 in these two, all 4 placed men in the tests in New South Wales, New Zealand, and West Australia, as well as the riders registering fastest time, were mounted on Dunlops. This is really, a wonderful result. .
