DETERMINED SUICIDE.

[by telegraph.—own correspondent.] GiSbornb, Monday. A man named Wm. Sharp, aged 35 years, committed suicide at Tokomaru Bay by cutting his throat with a razor on Mr. C. Forris's property. Sharp was discovered in the act of cutting his throat by Mr. Ferris, who grappled with him, and a fierce struggle ensued, Ferris being badly cut about the wrist with the razor the demented man was using. Others arrived and assisted Mr. Ferris to tie Sharp down, and whilst Mr. Ferris went to have his wound attended to, and the others to Waipare to telephone for assistance, a native was left to keep watch over the pinioned man. , Sharp, however, was seized with an attack of delirium, which terrified the native, who went outside the building and watched the proceedings through a window. r Sharp,, broke loose from his bonds, and got hold of the razor again, inflicting further gashes on his throat. He then tried to walk out into the sea. He got down on the beach and into the breakers, when he collapsed. By the time that assistance arrived Sharp was found to be dead. ' r '
