By Telegraph.—Press Association.Copyright. (Received October 8, 7' p.m.) New York, October 7. The annual " international balloon race commenced yesterday in Kansas City. ..... Nine balloons • started, including three representing America, two Germany, and one France. The race was somewhat of a failure so far as distance is concerned. Seven of the nine starters were compelled to land owing to bad weather. They covered distances of less than . 500 miles. • The French representative and one of the German representatives are still in the air. (Received October 9, 12.40 a.m.). , New York, October 8. Germany won the balloon race, travelling 75 miles further than the next competitor. The distance travelled was between 500 and 600 miles.
