DISCHARGED-""PRISONERS' AID : ,- V SOCIETY. -

The quarterly meeting 'of the Auckland Discharged Prisoners' Aid Society was held at the Church office on Friday, Mr. .; CHudson occupying the chair. The report of the honorary secretary (Rev. E. C. Budd) and the other active workers showed a great deal of useful work had been done. Men had been sent away by rail and steamer, work found,' the registry office fees paid, new and second-hand boots; and clothing provided, arid a large; number of - beds and 1 meals .. given >o ; destitute persons. The number of persons discharged from the Auckland Gaol is s still consider-' • able j. indeed, the " numbers » showed --"no diminution. There was a discussion on the possibility of overlapping through men going first to one and then to another for assistance. Greater care will be taken to prevent this. Contributions are needed, and may be sent to the, honorary secretary at Carlton Gore Road.

Y.W.C.A. COMMITTEE. Mrs. Knight presided at the ? monthly meeting of the. general committee of the Young Women's Christian Association, held last week. There were - present; Mesdames Mactier, Perry, E. do C. Clarke, ' Grimwade, Stone, Buttle, H. Brown, A. J. Campbell, Dattmann, Newcomb, Smith, J. J. Craig, Misses Macky, Hudson, Wilson, Rattray, and Stillwell. It was unanimously resolved to send a letter of thanks to. Mrs. , Kaye for the help* received during her recent" visit to Auckland. The resignation of Miss Bagnall as attendant at ! the Y.W.C.A. Women's' Club was received with regret. It decided to appoint Mis 3 Edwards as her successor. A letter was received from Miss Melville, honorary secretary of the Y.W.C.A. Women's Club, with an enclosure of £36, receipts for the past quarter, and much gratification was expressed at the* increasing success of the club. A request for six weeks' leave of absence was received from Miss .>Drake, -house superintendent, on. account of ill-health, and .this was granted. Mrs. : Campbell presented a recommendation from the Guild of Helpers that a garden fete be held early in March. Mrs. Newcomb, Mrs. Clarke, : and Mrs. Stone were asked to form a sub-committee to co-operate'with, the guild, in this matter. Twelve new members were received.. The house report showed 43 arrivals and 41 de« partur'es for the month. '
