'ANNIVERSARIES OF £ SUNDAY - ; ."schools. % V ..V %.■ Special services were held in the Beres-ford-street Congregational Church yesterday, to celebrate the 59th. Sunday-school anniversary. The services at 11 a.m. and seven p.m. were conducted by the Rev. Steele, Craik,. and . the three o'clock service by the Rev: W. Ready. ;' Special hymns were rendered by scholars, assisted by the Church choir, and members of eenior Bible classes. "A. Bridger, the afternoon service was taken by the Rev. J. M. Simpson, while at night the preacher was the Rev. J. H. Mackenzie. On each occasion the congregation was large. Special hymns wire -sung by. the children, with orchestral accompaniment, . and collections were taken up in. aid of the Sabbath-school fund. A public meeting will be held on Wednesday evening, -when' the annual distribution of prizes, will take place.

-- ST. JOHN'S COLLEGE. The special service for members of the C.E.M.S. at St. John's College, Tamaki, yesterday, was well attended. Dr. Crossley, Bishop of Auckland, preached a most impressive sermon, taking as the subject of his address, " Genesis, and the Development of 'the Apostles' Creed." . | \ ;v Y.M.C.A. J 'f : The Y.M.C.A. held its usual Sunday afternoon men's meeting yesterday, when Mr.. J. Lowden delivered .an address upon " Christian Teaching and Spiritualism." Mr. R. Care;/ was the soloist for the afternoon. The tables for the strangers' tea .were laid by the Sunday Afternoon Committee. A number of men were present*' to "welcome the newcomers.' SEAMEN'S MISSIONS. The usual service was held in the Sailors' Home Mission Hail, Albertstreet, last evening, when Captain Bazeley, missioner; gave an interesting .address to" a fair "number o£ seafaring men and. friends, who gathered together in the hall.* Solos were rendered by Mies J. Foster and Mr. B. C. . Warbuxton.. 'i % I The Flying Angel mission, in' Lower Queen-street, 'held their -usual service last evening. The missioner.. (Mr. A. P. Cowie) preached, and a number of seamen from the boats in port were present. As usual favourite hymns were sung after the service. THEOSOPHY. P A crowded audience assembled at the rooms of the Auckland Theosophical Society, Wellesley-street West-, last evening, to hear Mr. Stuart's lecture on '' Some Thcosophic Fallacies." The speaker gave a brief outline of,,the philosophy, and sought to show?; the'- fallacies of many writers, makings due allowance for the material from which they got the information. ........
