HOMING.
AUCKLAND CLUB.
THE third old bird race of the season was held by the members of the Auckland Pigeon Flying Club on Saturday afternoon, from Taumarunui to Auckland, an airline distance of 142 miles. The conditions ■were ideal, the atmosphere being clear and a light head wind blowing. One hundred and fifty-four pigeons, representing 16 lofts, v ere liberated by Mr. Harrison, at 10.30 a.m, the winner homing to Mr. H. Cowsill's loft at two minutes past two p.m. The result was as under:— H. Cowsill's blue rock Encounter, velocity 1175 yds a minute, 1; A. Hill's b c oheq. Curoform, 1171 yds, 2; R. Martin's b c cheq. c Goldfinder, 1170 yds, 3; E. E. Widdows's red ch h Off Chance, 1169.6yd5, 4; P. Hay's blk rd c Mayfly, 1169.1yd8, 5; C. Simpson's rd ch c Headlight, 1167 yds, 6.
