A PAID BACTERIOLOGIST.
SUGGESTED APPOINTMENT.
Dr. Paiist reported to the Auckland Hospital Committee yesterday on the necessity for appointing a stipendiary bacteriologist. The honorary staff recommended that applications be called at Home, the salary to be £400 a year, the successful applicant being given the right to practise outside only in his special department. The work was becoming very important, said Dr. Pabst, and the time had arrived to depart from the honorary system. Mr. Coyle : It seems a pretty big jump from an honorary system to an appointment at £400 a. year. The committee decided to refer the representations of the honorary staff to the Board#,
