RIVERS IMPROVEMENT.
WAIHOU AND OIONEMURI. [by telegraph.—special CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, Wednesday. In answer to a question by Mr., Poland (Ohiriemuri), the Minister for Public Works stated this afternoon in the House of Representatives that it is expected that very shortly the Department will be in a position to invite tenders for a portion of the works authorised by the Waihou and Ohinemuri Rivers Improvement • Act of last session. The engineering staff has now been on the ground , for about four months king the engineering investigations, which the Minister states are an essential preliminary to' the extensive works proposed.
