MINE MANAGER FINED.
! " [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.J Dunedin, Wednesday. In the Police Court to-day, Alexander Giilanders, mine manager of the Freeman's coal mine, was fined £2 and costs for permitting men to work in the mine without an underviewer or deputy being - present. The occasion was that on which a man named Walker lost his life on July 20 through a hidden fault. - The statement uhowed that it was a misapprehension, rather than a wilful act, on the manager's
part.
