NAPIER COMPETITIONS.
[by telegraph. —PRESS association.] Napier, Wednesday. The fourth annual competitions, musical and elocutionary, of the Napier Competitions Society commenced to-night in the Theatre Royal, which was crowded. The judges aro: Music, Dr. J. C. Bradshaw, Christchurch; elocution, Mr. J. Thornton, M.A., principal Te Aute College. The first priae winners were: Shakesperian test for ladies (amateur),, Miss Ethel Watson (Palmerston North); contralto solo (amateur), Miss Ivy Swan (Wanganui); church choirs, Wesley Church Choir, Feilding (conductor, H. Temple White); grand choral contest, Feilding Wesley Choir; ladies' humorous recital (amateur), Miss Doreen D'Authreau (Auckland). The winner is only seven years of age. : ' - . •
