NORTHERN UNION GAME. . AUCKLAND LEAGUE. The Auckland League met last .night-. Present: Messrs. B. Brigham (chairman), T. N. Mcßeynolds, T. Anderson, C. A., Smith, J. Graham, J. I*. Jackson, R. Oliphant, 11. Oakley (hon. secretary), and P. Usshcr (hon. treasurer). Arrangements were made in connection wit.li tho Auckland v. Lower Waikato match, to bo played at Frank (on next Saturday, The Auckland team will leave by tho 10 o'clock express on Saturday morning, and arrive in Auckland on Sunday morning. Permission was granted to tho Nortbcoto Ramblers to play Ngaruawuhia juniors at Frank tori as a curtain-raiser to the big match. Mr. Cunningham was appointed referee for tho Auckland v. Lower Waikato at Frankton next Saturday. Mr. B. Brigham was appointed manager of the Auckland team for next Saturday. Arrangements were made also in connection with tho Auckland v. Hawke's Bay match, to be played at Victoria Park on Saturday, August 19, tho second challenge for the Northern Union cup. It was decided to apply to the City Council for the use of tho Domain for September 9, to play a charity match, tho match to be the final between City Rovers and Ponsonby United, to decide tho senior championship. The inter-union match, Lower Waikato v. Franklin Rugby Union took place at Huntly on Saturday in good weather, and in the presence of a largo number of spectators. As the match decided the rubber, both teams having played drawn games on tho two. occasions on which they formerly met, each side was determined to win, if . possible, so that the game was fast, free, and .willing. The result went against the visitors after a very even game by 10 points to 3, or two goals to a try. For the home team tries were secured by Geo. Paki and H. Peckham, Drake converting- both while for Franklin Townsend scored, but the major points were not made. Mr. F. Johnston, of Hamilton, was in charge of the game. ■ . ,
