LEATHER FRAUDS CHARGES.
BOWRONS COMMITTED FOR TRIAL.
[from otjr own CORRESPONDENT.] London, May 12. John Allen Bowron and Sidney Bowron, leather merchants, and Thomas Knight. wharfinger, were on Saturday committed for trial on the charge of obtaining £28,670 from Messrs. Booth and Co., by false pretences. Bail was allowed, the Bowrons at two sureties of £1000 each, and Knight at two of £250. Mr. Disturnal, on behalf of his clients, entered a plea of not guilty, and said that as they had not had an opportunity of going through the books they would reserve their defence. He hinted further that it might be necessary at the Old Bailey to apply for a postponement of trial. A plea of not guilty was also entered on behalf of Knight.
