THE CORONATION.
PREPARATIONS IN THE CITY.
Tire approach of Coronation Day is being heralded in Auckland by the decoration of many business premises and the transformation of shop windows from the everyday display into something on a more lavish scale. Bunting is being freely used, whilo electricity will play an important part in the displays. Many of the shops are making a special feature of goods made in New Zealand for " Industries Week," and these displays will add to tho generally brightened aspect of the streets. Tho local barbers and tobacconists have decided not to observe a holiday, and to close on .Wednesday afternoon as usual.
- Coronation Day will bo celebrated by tho troops of the Auckland garrison with a church parado to several churches, and ceremonial parado and inspection at the Auckland Domain. The troops will parade at tho Auckland Drill Hall on Thursday morning at 9.45 o'clock, and will attend Divine service at the churches of the various denominations, after which they will reassemble and march to the Domain. The parado will comprise territorials and senior and junior cadets. A Royal salute of 101 guns will bo fired at. North Shore. Reference to the Coronation of King George V. on Thursday next"was made in many Auckland churches yesterday, and in several cases special services were held to commemorate the occasion. The importance of the event in relation to the history of the Empire was emphasised by tho preachers, and historical episodes of an interesting nature were referred to, besides which expression was given to loyal wishes for a long and prosperous reign. Hymns of an appropriate character were sung, and the singing of the National Anthem was a, feature of numerous services.
