Macdermott (Auckland) read a paper on " Demonstrations," and a resolution was subsequently passed, urging the inauguration of processions and open-air services). It was also decided to recommend a. pledge-signing campaign. The election of officers resulted as follows : President, Mr. Wesley Spragg (Auckland), vice-president, Mr. A. S. Adams (l)uncdin), secretary, Rev. John Dawson (Wellington), general organiser, Rev: F. W. Isitt (Wellington). Executive and Consnlative Committees were also set up. It wae decided to hold the next convention at Christchurch. A scheme was adopted to raise not less than £25,000 as a silver jubilee thanksgiving fund, and tho executive was empowered to cany out the details. In the afternoon statements were heard regarding the operation of no-license in prohibition areas. Rev. W. G. Elliott (Ashburton) was convinced of the beneficial effects of no-licence, and said that industrial and commercial prosperity was in no way retarded. Ills town was clean and prosperous. The convention closed with a women's meeting in tho Town Hall in the evening, when the crusade was inaugurated against the drink traffic. At the conclusion of the. meeting the women stood and repeated the " crueado pledge."
