CUNARD LINER ASHORE.
IVERNIA STRIKES A ROCK.
.By Telegraph.Press Association.—Copyright. London, May 24. The Cunard liner Ivernia struck Daunt Rock in a fog and was beached in Queenstown Harbour.
There is a large hole in her bottom, but the watertight bulkheads were instantaneously closed, confining the water to the forepart of the vessel, where it flowed in to a depth of 25ft.
There was no panic, the officers reassuring the 728-passengers.
The Ivernia, which was built 11 years ago, is' of 14,058 tons. She is 582 ft in length, and has twin screws.
