EAST COAST RAILWAY.
[by telegraph.—
Gisborne, Thursday. The trial survey of the railway line from Mangapoike to Gisborne has been connected up, and Mr. Thorpe and his party are now camped in the vicinity of Makaraka, where the details in connection with the survey will be completed. The railway construction work on the Gisborne-Motu section was practically unaffected by the recent heavy weather, there being only one or two small slips at the cuttings near Rakauroa. Mr. Griffiths, head of the firm of contractors for the Otoko viaduct, has taken charge of that work.
