ASCENSION DAY.
Ascension Day was celebrated at St, Matthew's Church last night. There was a good attendance, and the programme war. well received. Introductory symphony (organ), Mr. J. 11. Phillpot; chorale and quartette, "Praise to the Holiest"; recit. (tenor), " Awake up, my Glory," aria, (tenor), "I Will Give Thanks," Mr. W. Aspinall; chorus, For the Greatness of Thy Mercy," choir; chorale (decani), "0 Saviour, Who for Man" (cantoris), "Tho Angel Host," choir; intermezzo (during 1 offertory), Mr. J. H. Phillndtj rocit. (bass), "What, and if Ye Shall See," aria (bass), "It is the Spirit," Mr. J. W. Ryan; chorale and quartette, "0, Christ, Our Joy," choir and soli. ; recit. (soprano), " And He Led Them Out," aria (soprano), "Peace I Leave With You," Madame. Chambers: chorus, " Bo Thou Our Joy," choir; recit. (contralto), " And it Camo to Pass." aria (contralto), "Ascended up From Mortal Sight," Miss Freda Hunter; chorale, "Thou Art Cone up on High," choir. Quartette: Madame Chamber's, Miss Hunter, Messrs. Aspinall and Rvnn. , Chorus: "Hallelujah, Amen," choir. 'Tho offertory was for the choir fund. *
